There have been four intense days for our EULiST partnership in Madrid, especially for the URJC members as the host university of the International Staff Week event. Last week, from Monday 26th to Thursday 29th February, various EULiST activities and meetings took place. In total, there were almost 100 EULiST representatives during this week based on getting to know the Rey Juan Carlos University through visiting its campuses in Móstoles, Aranjuez and Fuenlabrada. The purpose of the visit was team building as well as to show the capacities of the URJC to our EULiST partners besides having some meetings of the different WPs.
Javier Ramos, Rector of URJC inaugurated this staff week which was also attended by representatives of the tasks of the alliance and from the faculties and schools of URJC. The event included speeches by the Vice-Rector for International Relations, María Luisa Humanes, who focused on the importance of engaging the university community in the internationalisation process and the Director of Internationalisation, Pablo T. Salvadores. The day ended with several parallel sessions of meetings of the different Work Packages of the EULiST alliance.
On Tuesday the Aranjuez Campus was the protagonist. First, our visitors were introduced to the educational offer and given a guided tour of the facilities of the Faculty of Arts and Humanities. Then they went to the Hospital San Carlos building where took place the presentations of the partner universities of the Universidad Rey Juan Carlos participating in the ERASMUS+ K-171 programme. Later, the Vice-Rector for Digital Transformation and Education and Artificial Intelligence, César Cáceres, introduced the comprehensive plan for the implementation of artificial intelligence Power U. Afterwards there was a plenary session in which Juan Manuel García Camús, leader of Task 5.5. and Local Coordinator of EULiST at URJC presented the Communication Plan designed for our alliance.
On Wednesday they visited Fuenlabrada to discover the different laboratories of the Faculty of Communication Sciences, the Faculty of Education and Sports Sciences and Interdisciplinary Studies and the School of Engineering of Fuenlabrada. They also had the opportunity to share experiences and knowledge with professors and researchers from the URJC. To close the evening, they were offered a visit to the Prado Museum.
The final day focused on the Móstoles Campus, where they visited the CAT (Technological Support Center) and its different laboratories, which support research and teaching at the School of Experimental Sciences and Technology and the School of Computer Engineering (ESCET). Finally, a wrap-up session was held to close the International Staff Week in which the leaders and participants of the different Work Packages had the opportunity to share with the group the conclusions of the meetings held during the week.
