Verónica Morgade Cuña, Fátima García Manrique (LLC, Leibniz Universität Hannover) and Tilman Tobias Klinge (CUI, Universidad Rey Juan Carlos, Madrid) presented their joint project “Madrid-Hannover Connection: EULiST Project between LUH and URJC to Promote Learner Autonomy in the Curriculum Integrating Tandem Methodology” at the XVIII CERCLES Conference, held at Durham University (UK) from 12 to 14 September.

The main theme of the conference, entitled “Multilingualism and the Anglosphere”, focused on the challenges and innovations in language teaching and language learning centres, with a particular emphasis on digitisation, inclusion and multilingualism.

Section 7 (12 September) was dedicated to learning autonomy and innovative methods in language teaching, where the three speakers presented the results of the past two semesters of this project, which is anchored in the EULiST Alliance. Through and thanks to the Alliance, this project, based on the autonomy of tandem learning as part of the curriculum (Spanish-German), has been harmonised in terms of time, space and curricular integration to enhance and encourage bi-directional academic student mobility.

The presentation was held in a hybrid format, with Tilman Klinge (URJC) participating online. The session was a great success, attracting considerable interest from the professional audience, which was also reflected in the subsequent discussions at the conference.
